SENELEC
Senegal's national electricity company, Senelec is a public limited company with majority public capital, a concessionaire with the core business of producing, transporting, distributing and marketing electrical energy. It was created in 1984 by the Senegalese State, which ensures the regulation and control of the sector in order to ensure the efficiency of the economic system. Senelec is the main lever for Senegal's economic and social development. Open to independent producers for its future development, electricity production activities are carried out from thermal, gas and fuel oil plants. The gradual introduction of hydroelectric dams and solar photovoltaic IPP power plants has led to a gradual move towards a more balanced energy mix. The installed capacity is 1130 MW. Electric power is transported from the power plants to the consumption areas via the dense transport network of 580 km of high-voltage power lines. Managed by Senelec, the distribution network consists of several hundred thousand km of medium and low voltage lines to consumers. The distribution network is made up of 12,107.834 km of HV lines and 9781.838 km of LV lines. Committed for several years to the modernization of the industrial infrastructure in the fields of Generation, Transmission and Distribution, Senelec has strongly accentuated the revitalization of the commercial service with particular emphasis on customer reception and the development of new services (prepayment meter known as "Woyofal" and the communicating meter). As a result, the service offers are better adapted to the specific needs of the company's various customers, i.e. domestic or industrial.
